NHS Tayside and Dundee City Council have delegated some of their functions to the Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership (The Partnership). The Partnership consists of Dundee City Council, NHS Tayside, and partners from the third sector and independent providers of health and social care services.
The Partnership organises, runs, and funds projects and initiatives that are designed to meet specific health and social care related outcomes for the people of Dundee. The purpose of these projects is to ensure the partnership responds flexibly to meet the service and support needs of citizens and communities.
The Partnership recognises the vital contribution of the social care workforce to the health and wellbeing of the population and are committed to working with providers to achieve fairer working conditions.
This case study focusses on the test of change project that was undertaken from October 2022 - March 2023, with the primary aim of supporting service users achieve positive outcomes by testing the impact that implementing fair working principles for the social care workforce might have.
The results of this test of change have informed the future procurement of Care at home service for adults in Dundee.
The contract will be a multi-provider framework for care and support services to adults in Dundee. Providing a personalised service that helps to meet the individual's agreed outcomes. This may include personal care, support tasks, respite at home, and aspects of health care such as medication support. The contract value will be £20 million with an anticipated duration of 3 years with the option to extend by up to 2 years. The new contract is expected to start in April 2025.
